The terms for using this site.

Last updated: 26 April 2026 · Effective: 26 April 2026 · Version 1.0
In a nutshell TruePay is a free UK take-home pay calculator and editorial blog. We try hard to be accurate, but the figures are estimates for general guidance — not personal financial, tax, or legal advice. By using the site you agree to use it lawfully and accept that we can't guarantee perfection. UK law applies and the courts of England and Wales handle any disputes.

01 About us & contact

The TruePay Calculator website (truepaycalculator.co.uk) is operated by an independent UK publisher ("TruePay", "we", "us", or "our"). You can contact us at enquiry@truepaycalculator.co.uk for any matter relating to these terms.

02 Agreement to terms

By accessing or using truepaycalculator.co.uk (the "site") you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

These Terms apply each time you use the site, including by viewing pages, using the calculator, reading articles in The Brief, or subscribing to our newsletter.

03 What we provide

TruePay provides:

  • An interactive UK take-home pay calculator that estimates your post-tax income based on inputs you provide (gross salary, tax code, pension contributions, student loan, bonus, overtime, etc.)
  • "The Brief", an editorial blog covering UK tax, benefits, energy, and mortgage news
  • An optional email newsletter with periodic updates on UK money matters

The site is provided free of charge to users. We may show advertising and include sponsored or affiliate links to fund the service.

04 Not financial advice

Important TruePay does not provide regulated financial, tax, mortgage, investment, pension, or legal advice. The calculator and articles are for general information and guidance only. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional that takes account of your individual circumstances.

If you are making a significant financial decision, please consult an authorised independent financial adviser, an accountant (CIOT/ACCA/CIMA-qualified), or a solicitor. For tax matters, HMRC can be contacted directly. For free, impartial debt and money guidance, contact MoneyHelper (the Money and Pensions Service).

We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and do not carry out any regulated activity under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.

05 Accuracy & tax rates

We work hard to make the calculator accurate to UK tax rules for the relevant tax year, and to verify the figures and dates we cite in articles. The calculator currently uses HMRC rates for the 2025/26 tax year (effective 6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026), with separate logic for Scottish income tax bands.

However:

  • Tax law and HMRC rates can change. Updates take effect on the site as soon as we apply them, but not necessarily on the date the change becomes law.
  • The calculator handles common cases — it cannot model every individual's full tax position (e.g. dividend income, rental income, foreign income, complex tax codes with multiple adjustments, share schemes, BIK calculations).
  • Articles are accurate to the best of our knowledge as at the date stated, but circumstances change quickly. Always check primary sources before acting.

If you spot a mistake, please email us — corrections are welcome and we'll publish them promptly.

06 Permitted use

You may use the site for lawful personal purposes — calculating your own (or, with their consent, another person's) take-home pay, reading our articles, and subscribing to the newsletter. You may share links to our pages on social media or by email.

07 Prohibited acts

You must not:

  • Use the site in any way that breaches UK law or any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any related systems
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the site at a rate that disrupts service for others
  • Reproduce, scrape, or republish our content (calculator code, articles, design) without our written permission, except for personal non-commercial use, or as permitted under "fair dealing" exceptions of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988
  • Use the site to transmit any harmful code, virus, or malicious payload
  • Misrepresent the calculator's outputs as official HMRC figures, professional advice, or as having any official endorsement
  • Impersonate TruePay, our employees, or other users

We reserve the right to block access for any visitor or IP address that breaches these terms.

08 Intellectual property

All content on the site — including the calculator's design, code, copy, articles in The Brief, the TruePay name, logo, and visual identity — is owned by us or our licensors. It is protected by UK and international copyright, design, and trademark law.

Specifically:

  • You may view, download, and print pages for personal non-commercial use
  • You may quote short extracts from articles with proper attribution and a link back to the source
  • You may not reproduce the calculator or substantial portions of articles on another site, or use our brand to suggest endorsement, without our written permission

Third-party trademarks mentioned on the site (HMRC, gov.uk, Ofgem, Bank of England, Google, etc.) belong to their respective owners and are used for identification or descriptive purposes only.

09 Third-party links & ads

The site contains links to other websites, including official government sources (gov.uk, hmrc.gov.uk), news sources, and commercial partners. These links are provided for your convenience.

We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or availability of third-party sites. Following a link to an external site is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.

The site shows advertising served by Google AdSense and may include affiliate or sponsored links. Ads are clearly labelled (e.g. "Advertisement" or "Sponsored"). We do not endorse or guarantee the products, services, or claims made in any ad, and we are not responsible for any transactions you enter into with an advertiser.

10 Availability of the service

We aim to keep the site available 24/7 but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The site may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to events outside our reasonable control (including network outages, hosting issues, or third-party service failures).

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the site or any feature at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or anyone else for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

11 Limitation of liability

The site, calculator, articles, and all other content are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by UK law:

  • We exclude all warranties, conditions, and representations (express or implied) including any implied warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage — including loss of profits, loss of savings, business interruption, financial loss, missed opportunities, or consequential or indirect loss — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site
  • We are not liable for decisions you make in reliance on the calculator's outputs or our articles
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any matter relating to your use of the site shall not exceed £100 (one hundred pounds sterling)
What we never exclude Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (i) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (ii) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (iii) any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law. Your statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected.

12 Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

13 Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers may be entitled to bring proceedings in their country of residence under applicable consumer law.

14 Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

15 Severability & entire agreement

If any part of these Terms is found by a court to be unenforceable, the remaining parts continue in full force. These Terms (together with our Privacy Policy) make up the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the site.

No failure or delay by us in exercising any right under these Terms operates as a waiver of that right.
